Our Inspiration
The inspiration for our programs has come from the pioneering
and highly successful micro enterprise development model
of David
and Carol Bussau and Opportunity International.
In 2001 we were fortunate to be able to engage with
David, Denis Perry, Leigh Coleman and a number of their
team on the deployment of a 3
year pilot program.
This project created the Philippines
first ICT Telecentre for disadvantaged youth in
Ermita, Manila with CMED partners CCT as well as the
creation of www.SolvePoverty.com. |

by the mid-nineties was running a VA-ISP offering internet
services. Since then he has worked in a range of IT businesses,
culminating in the wireless space around 2000. At that time
he was a developer of one of the first wireless marketing
systems to be launched into the telcos. His industry experience
includes interactive marketing, creative media design and

innovative use of ICT for youth development (ICT4D).
Peter Thomas - Peter specialises in
internet-based marketing and search engine optimisation. After
entering the IT business several years ago with the purchase
of a New Zealand based ISP, Peter developed an interest in
technology-influenced behaviour - particularly as it relates
to e-commerce. Fueled by this interest and a desire to reach
a wider market, Peter co-founded The Internet Business Development
Group (IBDG). Peter now provides marketing services to clients
spanning the globe. With less than 5% of all websites having
any optimisation or structured marketing at all, there is
huge demand on the services of Peter and his team. A particular
area of interest is his work with EdMedia, the world's fastest
growing student enquiry service, where Peter provides search
engine optimisation services. Peter is delighted to be
involved in OrphanIT
and as a new member
of the team, he is keen to put his experience to use for a

Cris Gillegao - Chris is 22 years

he graduated from high school and was picked as one of the
23 scholars of GLOW
1st Batch of students. Chris completed our Web Page Designing
Course at GLOW and also won the “Most Helpful Student
of The Year Award”. When Glow Batch 2 started in 2002
Chris became a volunteer assistant of Miller Lagunzad (original
GLOW teacher/trainer/mentor).
Chris said recently "Working with OrphanIT has enabled
me to share what I’ve learnt with other students whilst
earning money so that my family will overcome poverty. I continue
to accumulate new learnings in Computers and ICT so that I
can share and teach to my friends and relatives so that they
can also have the opportunity to earn money and overcome poverty
as well. Before, I was not interested in computers because
my dreams were to be a pilot or a seaman because I’d
like to travel around the world. But when I started studying
at GLOW
and have familiarized myself with computers, it was like a
whole new world was opened up before me. I studied, watched,
listened, asked questions and practiced the information I’ve
collected to expand my computer capabilities.
